Elopements

Some couples dream of blue skies and sunshine on their wedding day, and then there’s Ryan and Lauren, who turned a thunderstorm into the most cinematic moment of their lives! These two flew in from Manchester, UK, with their closest family (and their adorable son!) for a rainy Central Park elopement that looked and felt like it was plucked from a romance film. Think: umbrellas, quiet cobblestone paths, the stillness of the park, and that moody New York City glow you can only get in the rain. It was intimate, effortless, and so full of heart!

The Elopement Ceremony: Under the Arches, With All the Feels

Their ceremony took place at Bethesda Terrace, under those iconic archways that somehow look even more magical when they’re slick with rain. The soft drizzle created this beautiful echo beneath the ceiling murals, and I swear the whole moment felt like time had just… stopped. Lauren’s off-the-shoulder dress (with those lace sleeves!) was giving timeless elegance with just the right amount of main character energy. And the way Ryan looked at her…Yeah, we were all melting. They exchanged rings with their little one nearby, surrounded by the people who mattered most. You could feel the joy radiating off of them, even when her dress picked up some raindrops or their shoes got soaked, not one second was dampened. They were completely present, and it showed in every photo.

Post-Ceremony Magic: Rain, Romance, and a Whole Empty Park

Let me just say: the rain was a blessing in disguise. Central Park was basically empty, which NEVER happens, and these two got to stroll around like the city was all theirs. We popped open a black umbrella and just let the moment unfold naturally. Holding hands on the steps. Laughing in the drizzle. Sneaking kisses beneath the cherry blossoms and along Bow Bridge. Honestly, every frame looked like it belonged in a black-and-white film reel (except, you know, with better lighting and way more personality). Lauren didn’t hesitate for one second about the rain or her dress, she embraced it all. That carefree energy…that’s what made this day unforgettable!

Wandering Through the City: From Cobblestones to Crosswalks

After the ceremony, we wandered beyond the arches and into the heart of the city. We stopped at the Imagine mosaic, crossed a few classic NYC intersections, and took in that iconic Upper West Side vibe. The way they moved through the city together, hand in hand, soaked in love and rain felt like something out of a movie montage. It wasn’t just romantic. It was real. Effortless. The kind of love you feel deep in your chest.

Sweet words from the couple!

“The photos are amazing! Everything we’d hoped for and more. You are a visionary and have captured the day in such gorgeous moments. You told us the rain would not get in the way, we trusted you and we are so happy we did.”

There’s something about a rainy Central Park elopement that slows everything down. The usual buzz of the city softens, the air feels cleaner, and moments stretch longer. Ryan and Lauren’s day wasn’t “perfect” by traditional standards. It was better. It was theirs. Honest, unscripted, and full of that “nothing else matters” kind of love. If you’re dreaming of eloping in NYC and the forecast says rain, take it from these two: don’t run from it, dance in it! Ready for me to capture your dream elopement next? Say less!
