When I say this session felt like a scene out of an old romance film, I mean it. Cobe & Anissa flew in from Tulsa, Oklahoma for their engagement session in NYC. They had one big dreamy vision: timeless, structured elegance with a soft, romantic edge. Originally, we planned to shoot outside The Met (because hello, those iconic steps!!), but NYC had other plans. Cue: rain. Not just a little drizzle, full-on romantic, cinematic, let’s-say-screw-it-and-dance-in-it kind of rain. And spoiler alert…it made the session EVEN BETTER!
The Met as Our Muse During Their Engagement Session in NYC
We pivoted (as one does in the city), and instead of canceling or rescheduling, we headed inside The Met, and oh my god, the light, the marble, the hush of the galleries it felt sacred. Shooting inside The Met isn’t just a point-and-shoot moment. It’s about waiting for the crowds to shift, catching a pocket of space where the architecture breathes around the couple, and letting the stillness work for us. We found those quiet corners where Anissa’s lace dress could move and flow like it had its own mood. She became the main character. Cobe, calm and collected in a black suit, was the grounding balance to her softness. It was art imitating love, and love imitating art. Fun fact, this session actually went viral on TikTok!! It was iconic!
A Masterclass in Movement & Mood
There’s something about the symmetry of museum halls and the motion of a couple in love that just hits. As we walked from sculpture to sculpture, painting to painting, it felt like they belonged in those frames. The way Anissa’s dress caught the light, the way Cobe looked at her like he already knew this was the moment he’d remember forever…it was magic. This wasn’t just an engagement session. It was a mood board for timeless romance. A slow dance between light and architecture. An “I’ll love you even in the chaos” kind of day.
Rain-Soaked Streets & Taxi Cabs
And just when we thought we were done, the rain pulled us back outside. We said, “Why not?” and embraced it. The crosswalks, the reflections on the pavement, the classic yellow taxis whizzing by…it was so New York it hurt (in the best way!). They walked hand-in-hand down the slick streets like the entire city was theirs. The Met loomed in the fog behind them, pedestrians weaving through like extras on a movie set. It was gritty and glamorous all at once!
